Hello, I am new to the forum and have a mole that has swollen up over the summer. I was working on a farm and noticed a mole on my neck was slightly irritated. Due to other circumstances I quit for a week and noticed the irritation went away, however I went back for a couple of weeks at the end of the season and it became very irritated. It is in a bad spot where it gets irritated by my clothing. It got very itchy and enticed me to scratch it a couple of times and is now even bigger today.
I don't know if it is cause of the scratching. I need to do something now becuase it takes a ridiculously long time to get a doctor appointment for some reason. It is only about an eight inch diameter. How much do I need to worry. I have seen a lot of posts here about BCC and SCC but what about melanoma?

Irregular shaped and or bleeding moles are the absolute most suspicious / dangerous warning signs of possible melanoma. My advice ( And I am not a big proponent of dermatologist generally) is get to a dermatologist immediately. If he thinks it's suspicious he will biopsy it. Though in rare cases BCC's can be fatal, Melanoma is commonly fatal so see a Doctor today! Early detection provides the greatest odds of recovery.

Either way since the mole is causing you discomfort have it removed.
