Dr. Brownstein basically says that getting enough Vitamin D and Iodine will keep us from getting skin cancer. The whole video is well worth the time to view it.

He feels iodine is the most misunderstood nutrient, and that an extremely high percentage of us do not get enough iodine. He also feels it is impossible to achieve optimal health when there is iodine deficiency present.

I am currently using the detoxified iodine. I have tried several others, but find that the detoxified one is the best for me. But you have to be careful... because it is very powerful stuff. It gave me so much energy the first time I used it I was up all night. I took it later in the day (recommends morning) and used 3 drops on different skin problem areas, instead of the recommended one drop to start.

I had been putting the Iosol on many times a day, so I found out fast how different the two are.

Hey Muse, thanks for the post but the video link is not working for me. Maybe the video explains it, but what is detoxified iodine? Could you provide a link to the brand that you are using?

Here is the new link (I just checked it to make sure it works):

Detoxified Iodine is based on the info received through Edgar Cayce.

Others sell it online, as low as 15.50 a bottle. I got mine from the local herb shop for 18.00.

Another method of skin cancer protection involves wearing fluorescent shirts and hats of UPF50+ UV protection for a few hours a week. Nothing else. This sun protection clothing technology arrived a few years ago but has only just become mainstream.

My interest stemmed from wanting to protect people I love and know from sun exposure and I was so impressed when I came across this company's (Sunsoul) range of shirts and hats, I started distributing them.

I truly believe they'll help so I'm giving away a limited number of shirts and hats right now. Visit http://www.sunscreenwear.com for details. If anyone has prior experience with Sunsoul products, I'd be very interested in hearing about them.

Great info and thanks Muse and Canis for the links - great info

I have a Tilly hat made from Hemp which provides UPF50+ protection - always wear it when out in the sun especially when on my boat.

I get a my vitamin D from a supplement - Bio-D-Mulsion Forte which supplies vitamin D3 (2,000 IU per drop) in an emulsified form to aid in uptake and assimilation, especially important for those with malabsorption issues.

You can tell if you are low in Vit-D by taking a blood test. I believe the best test per my doctor is a 25 hydroxyvitamin D Test

Suggestion: kelp tablets available at many supplement stores give you a moderate and easy source of iodine.

I have skin damage from repeated overexposure as a child and was having basel cell cancers removed frequently. I thought perhaps nurishing the skin might help undo the deep skin damage and would be the best approach to preventing skin cancer, especially on my face where the damage was most extensive. About 2.5 years ago, I began to apply 99% pure aloe vera to my face and arms, where most of the cancers were found. (Unfortunately, it is hard to reach my back, where most are located. ) I love the fresh feeling aloe vera gives my face when I apply it and my skin looks firmer and younger and feels wonderful. Aloe vera can leave a clear layer which will peal and flake, so I added a few drops of coconut or olive oil over the aloe vera. I also stopped using foundations and powder makeup and started taking Vitamin D3. I now use a wonderful product called BoiOil with the aloe vera that I picked up at a vitamin and herb shop, but which can probably be located online. I have not had another skin cancer since I started using the aloe vera therapy, so I believe my theory is working. It certainly is a cheap way to go and is well worth a try.

I haven't posted in a while, due to other preoccupations, but I am still involved in the "quest" to cure and prevent skin cancer.
I just want to mention here that Vitamin D has been mentioned on this forum many times, especially by Dan.
It also gets some press in the news media and a recent article prompted me to buy a bottle of arthritis supplements (glucosamine, MSM and Vit D). I have been taking that for about two months during the time that I have been "too busy" to tackle my remaining skin cancer spots.

What I want to say here is pretty subjective, but it seems to me that after taking the Vit D for 2 months my "GENERAL SKIN QUALITY" has improved. It's hard to say what the indications are, but I do think I have healthier skin - some minor problem areas seem improved. My arthritis pills ran out, but now I am continuing with a straight Vit D supplement.

I think there really is something going on here related to the immunity / skin health/ cancer prevention claims. Vit D is cheap and the FDA (or someone) has recently increased the healthy amount to take each day.
