I have a nodular BCC on my left temple, and for about a week have been applying Curaderm. Now the area surrounding my left eye has swelled up - it looks like I have been punched. I stopped applying Curaderm and instead am using an antiseptic cream and still covering with micropore. Swelling is starting to do down, but I don't know what to do - should I continue with Curaderm? Has anyone heard of this? Cream did not go into the eye, as the lesion is a good centimetre from the edge of the eyebrow. Area concerned is directly under the eyebrow down towards eye, but not eye lid, then immediately under the eye and towards cheekbone.

UPDATE:
I have been in touch with Curaderm direct, and also made contact with the professor of one of the trials conducted here in the UK. It appears this reaction is not unexpected, considering the closeness of the site to the eye, and it is packed with nerves. The prof has said the reaction sounds very positive for a cure, and the gentleman I spoke with at Curaderm was very positive and helpful. I have been advised to apply a cold compress to the swelling, which I have been doing mornings and evenings. I am at the stage of yellow discharge, though this is reducing, so it looks very positive. Will provide an update in a couple of weeks or so. But I am feeling much more confident and positive about my outcome.

I have passed the stage of the "white dots", and new skin has regrown covering almost 90 per cent of lesion site. Just one tiny area left - all is looking good.

Am seeing my dermatologist in about three weeks'time - I am hoping he will give me the all-clear and confirm that BCC has gone.

Will post another update when I have more news.

dear sandrap, I am really glad to hear someone else talk about the white dots. You know when the white dots leave, and stay gone your on the road back. Did you really talk to someone other than bruno,or someone who works for curaderm? I am now restarting places that I did not finish before. Hang in there.

Hi

Interesting about the swelling. I have been using curaderm for about 10 days now (though I applied many times a day), to an area on my cheekbone, quite a large area, of sunspots. I basically covered the area of my cheekbone in a triangle type shape down to mid level with my lips, and I had a hige amount of swelling, including around my eye. I continued with the curaderm treatment as none got in the eye, and the swelling around my eye disappeared a few hours after I woke up (it did return every morning for a few days, then the swelling went down hugely).

Anyway, I thought I'd post my exp in case it helps anyone - it does go down if you keep using it too.

I'm in the pus/exudate stage now, though I can see some white dots too. So I hope that means its nearly done! I thought this area would be done quicker given i only had sun spots/ age spots, though that area had seen a lot of sun over the years. Just goes to show how much the sun can damage the skin.

thanks
Rebecca

Skin has now re-grown over 90 percent of the site. Just one tiny area left to go. Still in weekly contact with, yes, Bruno. Still applying a tiny area just to the area that has not healed. Am starting to get very impatient - but that's just me. This has to run its course. Seeing dermatologist in two weeks' time, and would like to see him with wound nicely healed!

Can I ask, what are the white dots? Are they little centers of the cancer?

I tried some other methods, now using Curaderm. Lesion has ulcerated on my face and flesh is red and raw underneath, and a couple of little white lumps have shown in the skin. I was able to gently rub one away with the face wipes. Do you find the white dots embedded along lines in the flesh?

I had a strange reaction to curaderm today! I think it was a bit of poisoning. I've had a headache building up with it for two days, the throbbing feeling like it comes originally from the treatment site on my forehead. Then I felt more and more nauseous today, then I was quite bad with my head spinning, trouble getting my breath and feeling like I was about to collapse. I even told the wife what I'd been using, and told her to show it to the hospital if I passed out and she had to call an ambulance. It's definitely poisoning, my ears have been ringing and everything, but it gradually went a bit better once I removed the cream from my face and took milk thistle and lots of water to hopefully help my liver. I felt just the same as I did not long back when I'd used something for another ailment containing wintergreen, which I knew nothing about at the time.

I'm not putting Curaderm down, but I'm very worried as to why this happened. The plant it's made from is poisonous, I've read up on it. But I didn't think they'd put any poisonous compounds in the product??? I'm at the stage of the weeping ooze and I wonder why this happened.

Hi robbiethegood

I would keep using the curaderm. i fon't think it's poisonous - but you are probably having a reaction to the mutated cells dying off. I know someone who had a skin cancer in his leg, and it made him actually feel sick too (this was befoer treatment - I beleive he had it cut out though. So, you can feel systemic effects. But if it's too much you can alsways go slower.

Oh - with the swelling, i found when i took some emu oil capsules there was less swelling (emu oil is a good anti-inflammatory). If you're going to take them I'd probably take around 6 a day. But I did notice it helped.

and eating things made with almond meal (blanched) - i think is has loads of vitamin e in it; but I noticed my skin heals faster when i do

Sorry it's been so long, but I've wanted to wait till I saw my dermatologist again for re-assessment. Good news - my skin cancer on temple has gone! He was quite surprised with the result as he had not heard of Curaderm, but the facts have spoken for themselves. So for me, Curaderm has got rid of a nodular BCC.

Thanks for all the kind comments and messages of support.
