I have a few spots of AK on my scalp and was clinically diagnosed with SCC in situ on same area a bit smaller than a pencil head eraser. I have been experimenting with orange oil, vitamnin C and a few other treatments and the only one to make any changes has been the topical vitamin C, so far. However, I elected to get PDT with ALA since it covers a wider range and was the least invasive for treating the SCC. My PDT session was yesterday and I'll post progress, findings in days/weeks to follow. Scheduled for followup with Derm in 6 weeks.

Just thought I'd give an update on my PDT Thereapy. I have had 3 treatments on my scalp to address some AK and one SCC in Situ. The last treatment was about 8 weeks ago. My last visit to the derm was a week ago and the follow up revealed no trace of the scc at this point. The rest of the scalp and other spots of AK are gone and the area is much smoother and many sun damaged spots are gone. I have a follow up in 3 months. Overall experience was a very well tolerated treatment and will update again as needed. I also followed a strict diet, 10,000 IU of Vit D3 daily and no meat or chicken. Lots of fresh fruits/veggies and juicing 4-5 days per week.

I may opt for this instead of efudex for my face. How come you had to be on a strict diet????

I didn't have to be on a strict diet but wanted to. I prefer my immune system to be as strong as possible and therefore avoid anything that would reduce it.
