Hi everyone. What an awesome site. I've been reading these boards for a couple of days now trying to figure out the best route to take. I'm 39 with an undiagnosed but suspected BCC on my nose and on my right temple. The spot on my nose started as a minor sore that hasn't healed in 4 months. A couple of times it looked as though it was going to heal but would scab and then the scab would fall off and repeat the cycle. Its the classic circular shape with slightly raised pink border and indented in the center. The one on my temple is the skin colored nodule. Its been there a little longer. Neither of these hurt. I will be making an appointment with a derm next week to have these spots confirmed. In an effort to try some topical solutions before my appt, I've made the EV mixture and have been using it a couple of days along with dabbing peroxide, vinegar, & vitamin e on the one on my nose here and there. The spot on my nose had a small scab before and since starting the EV, has become more defined and slightly red. The spot is a little smaller than a pencil eraser. I am absolutely terrified about skin cancer! My mother died in '07 from SCC of the nasal septum. Her doctor led her to believe that radiation alone would get rid of it. After that failed (and probably made it much, much worse) she had two unsuccessful surgeries, leaving her very disfigured. They still weren't able to get it all. It metastasized through the lymph system and ultimately traveled throughout her body and eventually killed her. This entire process from dx to death was just a little over a year! Sorry this post is lengthy but wanted to give a little background as to why I'm here. =) I'm looking for alternatives other than the horrible path my mother was led down. Thank you to all that have contributed here. |

Welcome NaturalSAHM! I agree it's a good idea to get checked out by a dermatologist to get an accurate read on the situation. I also think there are some pretty promising topical treatment alternatives to try here. In addition, skin cancer prevention needs to go well beyond the one size fits all "avoid the sun and wear sunscreen," which I think makes invasive cancer more probable by preventing vitamin D synthesis. Anyway, good luck, and let us know how it goes if you can. |
