I have a small BCC on the side of my nose about the size of a pencil eraser and I have a couple of questions.
First, how can you tell if it has spread? I mean into cartlidge and such, would there be any symptoms other then visible ones. Im quite freaked out over this and do not want to lose my nose....I dont think I could deal with that...my arm maybe...but not my nose.
I do not want mohs and I have been thinking of trying Curaderm but after doing some reading here I think I will try the sunspot...I guess I just need a little reassurance that if it had spread I would know it or feel it or something.

Why are you afraid of Mohs for your basal on your nose? You should be fine if you go to a very highly trained and reputable physician who specializes in this. I don't think there is any way you can tell if the basal has spread deeply into surrounding tissue, even with the biopsy. Another option you may seek is laser treatment. I just had it done on my scalp for basal and then followed it up with Aldera once a day for 2 wks. I had great results, just came back from my Dr. appt this afternoon with a clean bill of health. I have had a couple of BCC's on my nose as well. The first was on the left side about where eye glasses would sit. I had that one removed in what I guess would be called the traditional way. The dermatologist used curettage, scraping and electro-cauterization. He followed that with 5 small Grenz ray treatments and the scar was very minimal.
I am currently treating another with cymilium. It is what they refer to as a raised pearly BCC. It has reduced in size by roughly 50-75% since I began treating it. Patience is key with using cymilium, in my opinion, as it has taken a couple of months to reduce it this far.
I am of the opinion, so take it as only one persons opinion, that SunSpot ES isn't going to be strong enough to take a BCC off of your nose. You might inquire from a dermatologist about other prescription topicals such as imiquimod 5% (sold under the name Aldara) or flouroracil 5% (sold as Carac). These are effective in a large percentage of uses especially if you can use them together.
I haven't ever had a Moh's surgery on my nose. I have had it on my temple and on my cheek. Both of those scars I elected to let heal naturally, that is, no grafts or stitches. I healed pretty well from those. There is still some redness, but it is diminishing and I expect they will continue to get better with time leaving very little evidence of the surgery.
It is scary stuff at times, but just know that many people are going through this daily, and we all make out all right in the end. Education about the issue is your best friend, and a good doctor that will listen and give you options. If you elect to try topicals on your own, Dan's website here is invaluable. Thank you for the replies. I have found some black salve from altcancer something or other and have ordered it and then I seen these pics online where someone had lost there whole nose and part of their face after trying the black salve....I purchased the mild black salve...is it really that dangerous? I mean if the cancer has spread but is not visible and I apply this salve will it seek out those cancer cells and eventually cover my whole nose?

Yes black salve is a mother and will certainly let you know how bad you have it..or not..
In the bloodroot paste section here I posted a link to pictures of my use of black salve / bloodroot. I will use it again if I must but I am trying any and everything before I do again. OUCH and swelling..
I am less than impressed with curaderm. It does work to some degree but like sunspot es is not strong enough to get the big guys.
I am trying something currently on a serious BCC on my forhead with so far strange results. This is an area that was originally treated with bloodroot healed and about a year later starting reoccuring. I decided to try curaderm.. It tore up the area but not nearly as fast or as painful as Bloodroot. Things started healing wearing the 3m micropore tape every day..then little erruptions started popping up. It wasn't knocking it out.
I called curaderm and they told me that I needed to reapply more often each day.. Maybe I should listen but ...This cream is really expensive even when you buy in bulk pack of 6 tubes it's $75 a tube!
FForest had mentioned sunspot es which uses the same active ingredient from eggplant / devils apple so I ordered it and started using it in lieu of curaderm........much less expensive. It's a different formulation and dries out where curaderm has some kind of lotion,wax, cream that makes it stay moist.
I have to say that I have gone through 2 tubes of sunspot es and I think I'm getting somewhere on my acc's ( All over my face ) and with a twist in usage the BCC on my forehead.
For the overall application on my face after I shower I spread the sunspot es over any area that needs work including my BCC on my forehead. I put it a little heavy on my BCC and spread it thin on my face. I then take some retin A .05% and dab it over the sunspot es on my bcc. I originally was dabbing curaderm but switched to the retin a which is causing a reaction unlike anything before. I then cover the BCC with 3m Micropore tape ( Awesome stuff and sticks well) I trim it to a reasonable size and the flesh tone tape is not near as obvious as a traditional bandage or other tapes. Without the additonal cream barrier between the tape and the sunspot es the tape glue sticks to your skin and is a pain to remove. with the cream between the tape and the sunspot es the tape comes off easier and to my surprise made the ingredients attack the BCC IMO better ( Time will tell) so all these little ulcers are appearing to get deeper and when I remove the tape bleed which did not happen with with the curaderm. Oddly it doesn't hurt as bad as they did before. I am going to continue for about another 2 weeks and see where it goes. If things don't seem to look like they are getting smaller or healing I am going to switch gears and try another approach..maybe a dilluted bloodroot attack..which is what I think PDQ is.
Anyway by the time I finish putting the tape on my BCC the sunspot es on the rest of my face has dried out and is tingling making the acc's red. I wet my fingers with tap water and re-spread the sunspot es around again massaging it into my skin. I then use Trader Joes skin cream with vitamin c and put it all over the treated area.
Sunspot es is an exfoilant and does cause your skin to get scalley..enter another forum suggestion.
I have been washing my skin before I go into the shower with a solution of baking soda and water. I mix up about a tablespoon with a 1/4 cup of water and apply it on my face with a paper towel. I leave it on for about 20 minutes and then shower it helps remove the dead skin and also neutralizes the skin.
My skin is looking better but the jury is still out .. I'll keep posting the results as I go...
OK I am all typed out for today.
Go look at the pics .. they tell you just how bad it can get.
My nose healed awesome but my bcc was probably 1/4 the size of yours from your description.
