Medical tourism for cancer is not really the best option except for the reasons stated below:

1) Insurance do not cover the most feasible type of treatments.
2) You seek non-conventional treatments.
3) You are diagnosed with early stage of cancer, or found to be exposed to the high risks. Thus, mininum invasive surgery or screening can be done by endscope/fiberscope, etc., i.e., you can go back to normal life in a few days after surgery.
4) You want the best surgeon in the world.
5) You know some surgeons who provide specific treatments, but costs are not affordable, and you seek less costly overseas surgeons with same treatments.
6) You are at later stage of cancer, but you afford the travel cost.

If you fall under one of the reasons, you may consider medical tourism.

I'd recommend Japan, as their government just started the medical tourism for feasibility study, and
you may possibly have free-ride for next few years, as it's subsidized by government. And medical costs
in Japan are much cheaper already than in other developed countries especially for treatments not covered by
insurance. For details, link below provides the basic information on japanese hospitals and good surgeons.

Medicine in Japan is one of the best, so you can probably get the best low cost treatments there..

Another alternative option is Singapore. This former British colony has a thriving medical tourism industry, considered as one of the best in Asia. And while it is one with the highest rates in Asia the rates are nearly half that you would have to spend in US hospitals.
