I used curaderm for 4 days now on my nose (SCC) and have followed the instructions that came with it. However, although I can clearly see the bump which has been diagnosed as SCC, when I apply a dab of the creme and then put on the tape, it spreads all over the place and the whole left side of my nose is inflamed. I know it is supposed to redden before it goes to deeper skin layers but it feels like I am not getting enough on the small targeted area that I am trying to treat. Putting on more cream only spreads it around more. How to you target the area you are trying to treat without removing the tape completely? |

Hi, That is hard to do because the curaderm will follow damaged skin, like precancer. I practically followed the curderm around my whole face. The tape area got bigger and bigger. So what I do now when I want to treat one small area is I make sure that my tape stays really small, Just big enough to cover the area that I am treating. If it gets red outside the tape ignore it, unless you want to treat that area as well. You have to become a master at tearing the tape. |

Marsha, thanks, do you mean to just lay a small piece of the tape on top of the lesion, and not treat it as a bandage? I thought if air got under it, it could dry out. It has made a red area the size of about a dime. The original place biopsied was like a large pimple, it rose up from the skin and was hard. Now it is all smooth, and there is some oozing, do you think this is a good sign? Also, do you have any idea if there is support/directions anywhere else online? At Dr Chan's site there does not seem to be personal support. sophia |

You use have to find the right tape. Ill go look at the drugstore tomorrow as I don't remember the name right now.One doesn't stay on and the other is just right, except I all ways washed with soap and water before I pulled it off. Two reason,1 it was easier on my skin 2,I cant keep my hands off my face and I wanted to make sure there were no germs around the area. The tape is about an inch wide so I would rip it down the middle then rip off just enough to cover the area. They never dried out. When I was treating bad places around my eyes I had to sit up in bed because the liquid poured out, and I was afraid it would tun into my eyes. Some nights to get some rest I would get up and change the tape, with out putting more curaderm on. |

13.59 KB My whole face is swollen, and all those spots just sort of happened. I just sort of followed them around as they showed up.I don't know if they were all cancer,or precancer. I don't look that bad now. Except I'm still working on my nose. |

Thats pretty impressive. Mine looks like that in area that the cream spread to. The original raised area has changed into a crater and is starting to ooze less. It also does not sting any more, is that a bad sign or a good sign? |

That is a good sign.Just keep going until it heels and then go a few days longer. The tape I really like is made by Nexcare(3M),Gentle paper tape,Non irritating, Highly breathable. |

As a follow up, I am a month into the process and I never let it dry out, I got the right kind of surgical tape. The hole is closing nicely and the new skin on that one half of my nose is baby pink and scar free. I am almost done and am hopeful. sophia |
