Vitamin B2 riboflavin is a cellular photosensitizer that worsens damage caused by solar radiation. The combination of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) with ultraviolet-A radiation has recently been shown to increase gene mutations by 7 times compared to UV-A radiation exposure alone. [Proceedings National Academy of Sciences 104: 5953-58, 2007] http://www.pnas.org/cgi/content/abstract/0610534104v1 Vitamin C was shown in the same study to inhibit the genetic mutations caused by the combination of UV-A radiation and riboflavin. Taking high doses of riboflavin (RDA=1.7mg) is not recommended.
