I am a new member, planning to submit a fairly long entry summing up my experience with BCC and some suggestions from your website to date, as a way of saying thank you for all that has been offered here. I would like to suggest adding some sort of archiving to the website, since I have noticed that topics tend to go "dead" with material buried in them, when ordered by date. But some entries should be on the more "permanent" side, since their information may still be true long after the person has posted it who may have no need to re-post it or bring it up to date. Something valuable may get buried in apparently "dead" topics, whereas the newly posted-to topics will get the attention. So I SUGGEST setting up some ARCHIVES, trying to be helpful. A second suggestion, if it could be done without too much trouble, is to reverse the date order of the posted messages in a given thread, using the most recent at the top and oldest at the end. When you are trying to follow a certain thread daily, and it has two pages to scroll through to get to the latest message, that is wasteful. For those wishing to go from beginning of a thread to end, maybe new readers, it would be easy that one time to scroll to the bottom and oldest message and read upwards to the more recent entries. Again, just another SUGGESTION. I will take a few days or a week to prepare my long entry. That leads to a third suggestion: create a place for attached documents, even in the archive, if you decide to support that. Some of the entries are quite long (and usually interesting) but might be better as a separate document. Thanks for everything and thanks for accepting suggestions. 2007 was a good year on your website for me.

First of all, welcome thanks01! Feedback like this is always appreciated. I liked all your suggestions. The second one regarding dates is hopefully better now due to a couple of features that were implemented. There is now a little blue arrow on the topic page that will take you directly to the last post. Also added is a pulldown box with sorting options for oldest or newest posts first.
The idea of an archive section is pretty neat. One way is to add a new forum (such as "most promising remedies"...help) and move around a dozen topics (vinegar-eggplant, bloodroot, cymilium, orange oil combos, coconut oil combos, sunspot, curaderm, others) into it. The new forum would allow comments on these handpicked topics but would not allow new topics to be added. Maybe this will help us focus a little better. The existing forums would be kept open for new and other ideas. Is this what you had in mind, or did I miss it?
I'm also open to creating a special directory for other peoples web pages and or even hosting skin cancer related web pages/blogs for free on this site. |

Thanks, Dan, for your reply and the implementation of the 2 new features. I love both of them and think they probably resolve the dating question, at least for me. How quickly this was fixed !
As for ideas on archiving, I have some, but cannot sort them out right now. I am still involved in writing my long "essay" to post here on the website. I realize that I probably should have joined earlier and kept posting as things went along, but it's my nature to look for a while before acting. I don't know when I'll finish the current task, but hope it will be soon. Many thanks. |
