I treated a BCC (biopsied) in 2010 with Petty Spurge and it went away. In the last year in the same general area it has been growing back. I tried a Petty Spurge treatment again a few times this spring, but the pearly bump kept coming back. I had it biopsied recently and when they took the bump off I could see that there was more BCC inside than I had 8 years ago.
Of course the Derm recommends MOHS, but I am wondering if I should go in that direction. I don't love the idea of that process. I just thought it would be nice to get some feedback on here that might help me decide.
Another factor is, that I am fully covered right now with my insurance. But by the end of the year I will be on Medicare and if I decided to wait, I will have to pay part of the cost.
The spot is on my cheek and I am worried about the scar and don't know how big the spot will be enlarged once they start the surgery.

Hi ruby, I don't really know if I can offer anything helpful. If you made an appointment for Moh's in December, that gives you about 3 months to try something else and still keep your present insurance advantage. You can always cancel the appointment in December if you like what you see with alternative treatments.
I have had very good luck with orange oil and pancreatin enzyme/ ammonia based treatments for skin cancers over the years. Both are very inexpensive, easy to try, and take a couple of weeks to see clear results. When starting out, be sure to take a picture to be able to refer to later to see if you are on the right track. |

| Ruby, since its covered under insurance and you have already tried natural methods why not get the Mohs? It has 99.9% success rate according to my fellowship trained Mohs doctor ( he has said watch out for guys with bogus certification) and having been cut on by other doctors (on face) over time the scars are minimal IMO, you can always cover with make up. Not here to promote Mohs but if something hasn't worked it may be time to get it done. |
