I'm having surgery on a very small area of my forehead next week. I eould like to know the best waterproof covering that would look the least unattractive. I would like to avoid tape and gauze.

Hi HMW! I wish I could be more help, but I don't really have any advice for you. I have a spot on my hip and I have discovered that seran wrap is perfect for keeping it covered, yet not having to deal with the irritations of bandaids or tape. But that might not work on your forehead. You might could try the seran wrap when you are at home though. I have read where some people use occlusive tape by Nexcare, but I've never tried it.

I hope your surgery goes well and that you heal quickly. Let us know how you're doing.

The surgery went well 2 weeks ago. I needed three layers removed. Sutures were removed a week ago, the others will dissolve. I do have a scar on my forehead. The dermatologist said I could return to my routine of applying moisturizer and sunscreen to the area. Is this a good idea? If anyone has suggestions for topical healing aids, let me know. The dermatologist said that the wound should heal, but she would provide laser treatment (for free) if there is a lingering scar.

For wound healing I would use one of the following: (1) Lucas' Papaw ointment (2) Medihoney. Amazon sells both. Medihoney is antibacterial and is used even on difficult bedsores in nursing homes. But it is messy to have a blob of honey on your face. (3) I especially like Argentum 23 Gel. It is a clear gel, and very soothing, and also antibacterial etc. Be careful though that Argentum is cold sensitive. Amazon sells it but if you live in a cold climate I would instead get it at a health food store.

Best to you,
