I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread about selenium so it doesn't get buried in the melanoma thread.
A brief history—about 2 years ago a basal cell carcinoma started up on my face, progressed to a nodule and got biopsied and diagnosed as bcc. The doctor said the usual “cut it or cut it, take your choice.” I figured that was all that could be done. Then, just randomly reading on the internet, I saw that vitamin C could cure bcc, so I got some powdered C and got to work. The growth on top of the skin went away fast, but then everything slowed down as the C was working on the growth under the skin. Had lots of anxiety and wasn't sure about what was happening (and the doctors were pushing the whole “you're gonna die! Your whole face is being eaten up by cancer!”) so I had Moh's.
About 8 months later, I saw another growth along the incision line that I didn't like, so applied a mixture of vitamin c, vitamin E and green tea extract to it and a red spot on the other side of my nose. Overnight, both spots exploded into flat black eschars. Over about two weeks time treating with the mixture, the incision area uncovered an area about the size of a quarter and you could see the “fingers” of the cancer. The other side was smaller but looked deep.
Vitamin C makes the cancer cells explode (lots of serous fluid comes off) and the skin began to look eaten as the cells died off. It was a real mess and was beginning to be hard for me to go out in public without a fair amount of bandaging. It also smarted so much it was hard to keep treating it, but I knew I had to.
After reading about a poster who used Selsun Blue on a melanoma, I started using selenium citrate on the lesions. Overnight the lesions improved dramatically. Both turned white and the skin began to look much more healthy. The change, on a scale of 1-10, was a 20. I would call it miraculous.
Now I am using a mixture of selenium citrate, vitamin E and vitamin A on the lesions several times a day. There is no pain, just the occasional twinge and lots of itching. I also take bee pollen, garlic and colloidal minerals, as I believe that the cancer was due (in a round about way) to a selenium deficiency and possibly a deficiency of other trace minerals. Also take 400 mcg of selenium citrate orally on a daily basis.
So this is all very exploratory at this point; the lesions have not completely healed up and there is the whole selenium toxicity thing to be considered. But cheap, painless and doesn't leave a divot in your skin—if this actually works, woo hoo!

So an update on the selenium treatment--the lesions are completely healed with no scar or dents in the skin. The one that was large and shallow is still quite red, but all the scabbing is gone. I'll continue to treat with the selenium mixture at least until the redness is gone and probably after.

Hey Nano
Good idea starting a Selenium thread of it's own..
Appreciate the info but now would like more details.
You mentioned a mixture of selenium citrate, vitamin E and vitamin A but no ratio's or how you apllied, how long you left it on, did you cover it..Please take some time and detail out wht you did...It's clear you are here trying to share your success, not trying to sell something so it's certainly OK to mention the brands you used.

Sure--I take a custard cup and dump the contents of 2 Vitamin A capsules (Carlson Palmitate 15000 IU) into it, then the contents of 1 Vitamin E capsule (Twinlab Super E Complex 400IU), then shake the contents of a selenium citrate capsule (Thorne 200 mcg) into the oil. I mix it with my finger and apply about every three hours throughout the day. No covering. Sometimes I put a zinc ointment on it as well as the selenium mixture.
The selenium is kind of stimulating so I don't apply it after six o'clock. Gave me a weird awake while asleep feeling.
It's really hard to gauge the progress because it's a very quiet treatment. I feel twinges which are maybe blood vessels closing down and see little dark spots in the cancer areas like when warts begin to shut down on the shallow side. The itching has died off quite a bit.
Let me know if there is anything I missed. Maybe this weekend I can get the pix up of before and after. |
