I had Mohs surgery in April 2011. I was in a dermatologist office for a clinical trial and they suspected the spot on my forehead was a BCC. Came back the next day for a biopsy and was told it was basal cell carcinoma and they scheduled me for Mohs. I did do some research and called the office to request some time of anesthesia due to my other medical issues. They told me it was possible to have a twilight sleep but the next time I asked they said I would have to just deal with it and gave me Valium (which did nothing). I had a friend with me and they started the Mohs at 9 a.m. and I did not walk out until 5 p.m. They informed me my site resembled a gunshot wound due to the width and depth. I followed all their instructions and was happy to see it heal well and now have a white cross on my upper mid forehead. Less than a year after surgery I saw a spot beginning to form again(in the same spot) and a couple of smaller spots not far from original area. I was told at the time of the procedure they got it all and yet here I am looking at my options again. One thing I will NOT do is allow anymore cutting. I am going to use some natural oils that I have been researching. I am just to the point in my life that I prefer natural methods. I will be happy to post pictures of my previous BCC, the aftermath of the Mohs and what I am seeing now. Also pictures as I choose and begin the natural oils. Look forward to getting to know people here. A little about myself: female, about 85% Irish, fair skin,dark hair also diagnosed with Rosacea.

Welcome to our forum there is lots to learn here and a lot of things happening in the industry. You mentioned oils..no one here has mentioned such a thing to my knowledge so let us know what you have found.. There was a time when I tried grapeseed oil with no luck..
It can be inundating trying to sift through all the post here but again there is a lot of great info. As you probably already know Dan is the owner of this site and makes zero money off of it.. It is all out of the goodness of his heart that he host this awesome resource.
I've been around this forum for a long time.. I came here looking for an easier way to treat than Bloodroot paste which totally works but is really painful.
Yes Mohs surgery is the gold standard and as you have come to find it may be the standard but just like everything else..there are no guarantees..
Do your own due diligence but here are a few things that have been having good luck..
Obviously Bloodroot paste
Petty Spurge and it's pharma byproduct picato gel
Orange Oil
Cymillium
non meat, low sugar diet.

lastly pictures are proof of the pudding.. You will see a lot of people speak of curing this or that skin cancer with XYZ product..

Pictures or it didn't happen is my rule of thumb..
It also helps if before you start a treatment you have a biopsy of the tumor just to verify it really is a skin cancer..

| Anivoc, thanks for writing! I have read several of your posts and posts of a couple of other people that have used bloodroot and Mohs. As for me...I PROMISE :-) to post pics of my past experience, before and after as well as what I plan on doing this time. I have been researching natural oils, Thyme, Frankincense are the main two cut with a non-GMO Olive Oil. I can provide links to some pics of someone that used it, before and after. I have been very into vitamins and other natural health alternatives since I started using Shaklee 17 years ago. Need to clean up my diet soon! As for going through another biopsy...not going to go there. I have the exact same type of skin discoloration and it has bled right on top of old scar (along with a couple of teeny spots)and due to using something that is a bit easier on the skin I feel like it is a good route for me. Tried to upload a pic of post Mohs with no luck, too big so will try again tomorrow. |

Hey Irish,
If the problem area is at the same place you had Mohs then there's little doubt whatever they removed before is back so yeah no need to biopsy.. |

| I keep trying to get pictures small enough but no luck so far. Yep...the main spot is right on top of my cross (my scar looks like a white cross). Thanks for the replies Anivoc :-) |
