Posted - 05/05/2011 : 12:21:44 Just visited my dermatologist, who wants me to use Efudex on full face; one area on bridge of nose may (may) be SCC but for the rest he thinks they are all still keratoses of some type or other. My question. My prescription is for 14 days, twice a day, and I was planning to start May 25 and give up the month of June (in Maine) for treatment and healing. My partner is very upset that we will lose the entire summer as I don't want to go places looking awful (vanity); also, he's a sailor and I would be in the sun quite a bit. So, after the 14 day treatment, about how long does it take before the redness/scaling is gone and one looks as they did before, hopefully without all those scaly bits. Would appreciate hearing from anyone on this. Thanks, Anne
P.S. Also, did anyone have permanent scarring. |

Posted - 05/08/2011 : 21:14:08 Hi Anne Shirley, I did the same course of treatment that you did. After stopping the Efudex (at the end of the second week), it continued to get worse for the next two weeks. After that (at the end of 4 weeks from the first application), it started to improve. However, I've found from my website's visitors that the healing process varies so much depending on the individual so I can't say you would experience the same thing...
Please see my website at http://www.hybriddesign.net/efudex for my Efudex treatment journal and photos!
Hope this helps! |
