Posted - 03/30/2011 : 14:52:53 I've been treating my basal skin cancer and the lesion seems to have been lifted and left a bit of a "crater". How do you know if you've got it all? Do you let it scab over, heal and see if it comes back?
How long does it usually take to show signs of coming back after you've stopped the treatment? I know it can be different for each of us....I'm just looking for a ball park estimate.
FYI - It's a spot on the side of my nose if that makes any difference.
I've read lots of posts but would appreciate some advice. |

Posted - 01/26/2015 : 13:43:00 Just wanted to say that it worked on the small area i tried it. It produced a small 'indentation' at first, but after using different products it finally healed. It's not painless by any means (in my case i had a swollen, puffy nose), but it does work... I started to maintain a very healthy diet around the same time i tried this treatment and also tried taking supplements such as astaxanthin (awesome! I'm still taking it...)... Just try to stay away from foods and stuffs that cause inflammation (e.g. milk...). |

Posted - 01/25/2015 : 21:50:19 Shari, I wanted to ask a couple of questions with your experience using these two ingredient. First, the center that lifted, did you lift it up and out? or you just let it stay? If you let it scab over, did the scab eventually fall off? and did you apply any healing creams after it did that?
Also, did you take any pictures? and for those that did what Shari did, do you after any results to share?
Thank you. |

Posted - 05/05/2014 : 07:15:03 I had a basal cell carcinoma removed in mid-March. It was accidentally diagnosed as a cyst so not enough of the cancer was removed. I've been freaked out ever since, especially because of the location of the cyst, which was beside the base of my nostril. My nose has been runny only on the side that had the cyst, so of course my I've been imagining all kinds of horrible possibilities with the BSC.
I went to see a non-melanoma oncologist who has scheduled me for a second minor surgery but the original scar sight looks terrible! I've been massaging the area to try and break up the scar tissue a little and I just started applying Vitamin E oil. Now I'm wondering if the oil I've been using is the right kind and if it's sufficient.
I'm also curious about the Orange Oil. Does anyone know how/why does it work in identifying cancerous cells?
Thanks so much for this thread! It's really timely for me. |

Posted - 05/02/2014 : 18:09:14 Time to renew interest to this topic. Shari, you have inspired me to try this. Have you had any reoccurances with the lesions? I already had vit E, and I went out and bought some ALA, so I'm starting tonight to try your recipe :) |

Posted - 11/18/2011 : 13:51:01 I wanted to give an update. It's been 8 months now and my skin cancer has not come back! This treatment worked very well with NO pain and NO scar left behind. Win Win! |

Posted - 04/13/2011 : 16:24:41 Thanks for the info Dan. I didn't know if we could post links to a particular site for supplements so thanks for doing that.
I haven't purchased the orange oil, but so far so good! The BC lesion hasn't come back and the area has healed with just a slight pink hue to the skin. |

Posted - 04/08/2011 : 01:38:55 Shari, thanks for all the info! It may be important that there are many forms of vitamin E http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/vitamins/vitaminE/ so the "fraternity" may make a difference. I also wonder if the selenium is part of what makes this work. For anyone interested, here are the product links http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-Vitamin-E-400-IU-with-Selenium and http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-Alpha-Lipoic-Acid-300-mg-120-Capsules
As for orange oil, anything with d-limonene should work. Vitacost sells orange oil for around $2 http://www.vitacost.com/Aura-Cacia-Sweet-Orange-Essential-Oil I have used NOW brand orange oil as well as That Orange Stuff cleaner. Be sure to try orange oil topically on an inconspicuous spot first to see that there is not a reaction before applying it topically on suspect areas. It is possible to be allergic to orange oil. If there is cancer, it starts stinging after about a minute and the stinging continues for about twenty minutes. It can hurt like a burn but it will go away like clockwork. If there is a reaction, it is also possible to consider using orange oil as a treatment. Orange oil does not work very quickly, taking several weeks, at least in my case. I always rinsed it off after the stinging subsided. |

Posted - 04/07/2011 : 01:32:55 Dan, no problem in retitling the thread. It made perfect sense!
The brand of both the vitamin E and alpha lipoic acid is NSI (Neutraceutical Sciences Institute). I get all my supplements from vitacost.com. I've found that they have quality supplements, all the well known name brands and a great "house" brand which is the NSI. Not all my supps are NSI but I've done my research and they use quality ingredients and they do their research.
The vitamin E is in the softgel form. Each softgel has 400 IU of E (d-alpha tocopherol), 100mcg of selenium (L-selenomethionine) and 40mg of mixed tocopherols (gamma, delta, beta...sounds like a fraternity, doesn't it?!) To apply it, I sterilize a needle and puncture the outer "jelly" then squeeze the oil onto the lesion. My whole treatment only used one softgel for the two weeks. A little goes a long way. Obviously, if you had a larger area to treat you may need a couple of them.
The alpha lipoic acid is in capsule form. Each capsule has 300mg of ALA and that's all it has in it. To apply, I gently open the capsule and sprinkle the powder to cover the vitamin E oil. I do apply a fairly good amount on it. If some of the powder is still light in colour (indicating that it did not get completely absorbed by the vitamin E) I just gently tap the surface with my finger to push it into the E.
Dan, thanks for pointing out the distinction between alpha lipoic acid and alpha linolenic acid. The lipoic acid is still fairly new on the scene for most people and they may not have even heard of it. (Although, I did see another post here by someone who did mention it as part of their daily supplement regimen.) It's a great antioxident and I really feel that we need to utilize a healthy diet and additional supplements as a preventive measure against any cancer.
I'll have to try the orange oil to see if this remedy really did the trick. Is there a certain brand that you recommend Dan? |

Posted - 04/06/2011 : 01:00:54 Wow Shari, I am glad I asked! This is a terrific result using two easy to find supplements vitamin E and Alpha Lipoic Acid. If anyone else tries this, don't confuse Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) with the other ALA alpha-linolenic acid found in flax seed oil (like I have been known to do). What I like is that this skin cancer remedy worked so quickly, selectively, and there are no toxic ingredients. Could you provide the product names and dosages of the vitamin E and ALA?
I must sound like a broken record to some people in suggesting using orange oil as a test to see if the cancer is really gone. Orange oil penetrates skin deeply and will sting for up to 30 minutes if it finds cancer and has anticancer properties of its own. At the same time, I don't need to have the last word on the topic of how can you tell if the cancer is really gone so more ideas are always welcome.
Thanks Shari, the vitamin E and ALA skin cancer remedy sounds really promising based on your results. I hope you don't mind that I changed the title of the thread to Vitamin E and Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) remedy from When to stop the treatment and let scab over? to help people find it more easily. |

Posted - 04/05/2011 : 02:48:48 Dan, I ended up using a mixture of vitamin E and alpha lipoic acid. I use both supplements and had them on hand so I thought I'd try it. I actually tried the vitamin C powder with the E first but it didn't seem to do anything.
I punctured a tiny hole in one Vitamin E softgel and placed a few drops on the lesion. Then I opened up one of the alpha lipoic acid capsules and sprinkled the powder on top of the E. The powder adheres nicely to the oily E on the skin. I wouldn't even have to bandage it at all unless I was going out. I would apply it once in the morning and then again before going to bed. I rinsed it off with a cotton pad soaked in an epsom salt solution and then swabbed it with the solution for a couple of minutes before applying the E and ALA.
On day 3 I saw a noticeable difference in the lesion. The perimeter was slightly red and puffy while the center was beginning to break down. About one week into it, the center area lifted a couple of times leaving a crater like surface. There was very little bleeding and virtually NO pain! I felt a bit of tingling for about 5-10 minutes after I applied the ALA but no real stinging or burning.
After about 2 weeks, I didn't really see any more tissue lifting from the center and I no longer felt any tingling from the ALA. I decided to let it scab over and am amazed at how completely it's healed already. It's only been about 8 days after the last treatment and the spot isn't even red or scaly! There's a small dent on the side of my nose but nothing that's really noticeable.
This basal cell lesion probably started about 2 years ago. I thought it was just a small mole that was starting on the side of my nose. Then about a year ago it began to scab, then shed and bleed a bit and do it over again. I tried this treatment on another mole that I've had on my face for many years that I was confident was NOT cancer and it didn't react to this stuff at all.
I first tried the vitamin E with a C capsule sprinkled on it and I saw no reaction at all. I remembered that C is water soluble so I thought perhaps it wouldn't work with the oil in the E. I liked using the E because it has great healing properties on the skin. Then I realized that my alpha lipoic acid is both water and fat soluble. Also, ALA not only stands alone as a potent antioxidant but it acts as a power booster for other antioxidants. I gave it a try and it worked like a charm!
Only time will tell if it was a successful true cure. *fingers crossed*
