Hi all,
I had my first Moh's in December '09 and now have another nodular BCC on my chin. It is 3mm. I wrote in length about my surgery and now have a RX for aldara. I am hesitant to try it. Has anyone had sucess with it for what I have? I also need loving support. Trudie |

Give it a try. It may work very well for you. It helps a lot of folks with bcc. Take good care of yourself.

Trudie, I tried Aldara, given by a dermatologist for a spot near where I had BCC removed by Mohs.
From reading I have done I think that the aldara treatment uses some "immune system booster" chemicals related to the poison ivy chemical, urushiol. I mention this because I am pretty allergic to ordinary poison ivy, and with the Aldara I had a pretty severe "poison-ivy-like" reaction.
I'm not sorry I did it, and there was neither pain nor itching, but it looked as though I had a terrific case of poison ivy in the area (on my nose, under my eye). It took a while for any reaction to show, but after a few days it started. The spot spread out well beyond the "little pinpoint" for application recommended by the dermatologist. Again, no complaints, that's just how the medicine worked for me.
Final remark: the treatment seemed to do some good and to REDUCE the small nodule that both the derm and I were concerned about. HOWEVER, it did NOT COMPLETELY remove it. It rears its (now very tiny) head now and again and is one of the issues that I am still working on. I only see the dermatologist once a year, in the fall, and I will mention it again then if I have not managed to do something about it. I am currently interested in CNSL (see thread) and Petty Spurge (see thread).
I think Aldara is probably worth a try. My best wishes to you. |
