I am a 77 years old redhead born and bred in Arizona deserts and California beaches.
I've had a few pre-cancerous spots on my hands removed by liquid nitrogen; a small lesion surgically removed on my nose.

I thought I had rosecea. After a 7 minute visit to an HMO dermatologist, Efudex was the recommendation for my pre-cancerous facial 'spots'. The internet gave me much to think about and I considered alternate treatments but finally decided to go for the Efudex. (Which incidentally costs $45.00 from my HMO but $249.00 for a 40g tube elsewhere.)

This week I completed the twice-a-day-for-two-weeks application without any major discomfort. My face is covered with red blotchy patches, the skin feels tight and there is a slight burning sensation. I expect soon the healing process will begin but do not expect any more discomfort.

I plan to use almond oil to keep my skin lubricated as Vaseline, coconut oil, 100% aloe vera gel, etc. is too messy or greasy.

When I go outside I wear a wide brimmed hat and a scarf and at times look rather like a beekeeper or a desert nomad. I feel very fortunate that my treatment so far has been positive and I expect my Dr. will agree.

Anticipating the treatment sent my blood pressure up so it was necessary to psyche myself up to except whatever Efudex had to offer. So far, nothing like the internet pictures.

My son lives in the high desert - in Arizona - and I intend to send him photos of my face as a warning. He does occasionally listen.

Good luck to all of you........

Thank you, ssw.

If I cannot purchase locally I'll order online. I appreciate your suggestion and what I read on Google sounds very convincing. Thanks again.
