Is there a link between skin cancer and acne?

I ask this as I have been reading how nicotinamide at 1000 mg daily can prevent non-melanoma skin cancer from returning. Here is an article based on a scientific study of this:

http://www.skincancer.org/publications/the-melanoma-letter/spring-2016-vol-34-no-1/nicotinamide

Though the article doesn’t mention it, nicotinamide is used in various topical creams and gels for acne, and is also recommended to be taken as a food supplement by dermatologists as an acne treatment. So I’m wondering if there is a link between non-melanoma skin cancer and acne—at least in the way nicotinamide works to treat these conditions. I’ve noticed that a few of my BCCs look like some types of acne.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Sea Buckthorn contains over 190 different vitamins and nutrients. It has been shown to improve the health, look and feel of skin. It will treat several conditions but it is mainly recognized as a powerful treatment for aging or damaged skin. It is a source of the rare Omega 7 fatty acid, which is believed to cause the body to rid itself of fat, instead of retain it.

There's no doubt I have had terrible acne in the past, a really bad case of it in my teens.

Some spots returned around 2010, just before I got the skin cancer. I was eating junk, thinking I was indestructible and I was getting depleted of vitamins and certain nutrients.
However, I was using TCP on them, which I didn't realise contains a known carcinogen, Phenol.

It's hard to say to what extent it influenced the situation.

My BCCs are also on my face, around the nose area.

How long have you been taking the nicotinamide? And have you noticed any improvement (however slight) in your condition?

I’ve been reading how medium chain fatty acids inhibit the growth of human cancer cell types. See:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4394462/

Coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid, and it has high levels of caprylic acid in it, which the link above discuses in relation to skin and breast cancer.

One theory of cancer is that it is a form of fungal disease, and there has been much science-based speculation online about the link between candida infections and skin cancer—some, here, on this forum.

Here are some links to how caprylic acid can treat/cure candida infections:

https://www.thecandidadiet.com/caprylic-acid/

https://draxe.com/caprylic-acid/

https://www.yeastinfection.org/everything-you-need-to-know-about-caprylic-acid-and-how-it-can-help-against-candida/

Maybe you could try caprylic acid alongside the nicotinamide.

You might already know about all this, as it has been mentioned on this forum many times, so my apologies for repeating it.

I have been taking 1000 mg a day like in the study. NO side effects but I have an iron stomach....Keep in mind I am a mess with A LOT of lesions BIG and small on my face, forehead and back / shoulder area...The big ugly ones have been covered in bandages under a hat for years now...I also have a big one on my neck shoulder line that is hidden by a collared shirt...( most T-shirts reveal some of it) ...to date I have been able to pretty much hide the serious ones...

So all I can hope at this point is that the niacinamide slows things down maybe reverses some of the small ones...

My petty spurge poultice experiment is moving along...the open sore area it has eaten away a good section but on a small bump nodular in the same area it doesn't seem to have an effect...maybe I need to do some pin pricks to it to let the PS do it's work...will try ugh! Not horrifically painful, not even close to BP but no picnic for sure.

Thanks for the link.

What dosage are you taking? The other article I read says that to prevent skin cancers one gram a day (two 500 mg tablets/capsules) is the best dosage.

Also have you had any side effects from taking it?

This was mentioned elsewhere on the site at some point. I added it to my regime of daily vitamins....note nicotinamide and niacinamide are the same ...I purchased mine off of Amazon via NOW brand...

https://www.fda.gov/Food/IngredientsPackagingLabeling/GRAS/SCOGS/ucm260908.htm

Not sure if there is a link between acne and skin cancer but I never had acne but sure have skin cancers and I have a friend who had a terrible acne problem and has never had a skin cancer...
