Posted - 06/28/2015 : 16:26:50 The Australian government has just announced the new effective melanoma treatment for advanced melanoma will go on the 'free' medicine list in September. It usually costs $150,000 per treatment. It will cost the patient the same as all other prescriptions (from $6.10 to $37). Its called KYTRUDA. The statistics are 20% success rate after one treatment and 80% success rate after repeat treatments for patients who don't respond to one single treatment. It has few side effects. Apparently it's only used for advanced melanoma which is when organs are involved but very good news for many Australians.
