Posted - 05/06/2014 : 06:03:00 Hi I've just completed the 3 day Picato "Hell Gel" treatment and thought some of you might like to see the timeline of my pain and recovery. I'd have liked to have this information before starting the treatment. I treated my forehead, temples and nose areas. Day 1 and 2 were bearable but I had to use Panadol and then Nurofen to get any sleep. By the 3rd night I chose to use the gel much earlier so I could wash it off at 2 a.m. and try to get SOME sleep. What I did NOT expect was for the pain and swelling to get steadily worse over the next few days, until I woke with my eyes almost completely swollen shut and my husband rushed me off to see an after hours GP on Sunday morning. She assured me that I was not having an allergic reaction (no itching or histamine reaction) and just to wait for my skin to heal. I found pawpaw ointment very soothing on the tight, dry and scaly skin. Once the terrible burning, pain and swelling receded, my skin peeled then itched for a few days and is now looking pretty good after 2 weeks of torture! At one stage I was seriously concerned that I would be left with a burnt face... couldn't move my face at all. I am going to wait 12 months to see if any keratosis spots return before deciding if it was worth the agony. |

Posted - 05/14/2014 : 05:01:43 Trying a smaller pic. My skin feels good now but I'm not convinced the skin cancers will be completely gone. Feels like I had a chemical peel, using a toxic agent which just burnt off the top layers of skin. Sure, it's nice to have new skin but I'll wait and see! Using more sunscreen from now on anyway!! |

Sounds like you've had a really rough go of it...
I know you just "went for it" on your whole face...I wonder if it would have been better to do sections over a few months?
Anyway...you are through the darkest part of the tunnel at this point and heading towards the light...
Hope the results were worth the effort and pain you went through..
The reality is no matter what you have damaged skin that was only going to get worse if you didn't do anything....hoping this does the trick and provides you with many years of healthier skin.
In regards to the pictures...PLEASE POST!....It helps so much to actually see what to expect...there is a free image software out there that I use called Irfan view...works great for resizing and adjusting / color corrections etc... Great free image tool...I use it regularly. |

Posted - 05/06/2014 : 11:13:22 Hi Berryberet, the error is probably from a large file size. Each picture needs to be under 200KB. You can use a photo editor or an online site like http://www.picresize.com/ to shrink it. It will probably still look good at less than 200KB. http://www.topicalinfo.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=450 |

Posted - 05/06/2014 : 06:10:07 This forum keeps giving an error message when I try to upload the photo file. Any ideas? Happy to email the photo if you are interested in seeing the process over 2 weeks. |
